Prominent Hezbollah critic Lokman Slim was found shot dead in a car in southern Lebanon on Thursday morning, a killing that fellow political activists took as a warning from the Iran-backed Shiite militant group.
Slim, a Shiite Lebanese commentator in his late 50s, had long antagonized Hezbollah, which with its allies holds the most power in government and effectively operates as a state within a state.
